Beautiful Day

0810am . Sunday the 21st September . The 21st day of fasting in the month of Ramadhan 1429H .

My birthday too .

Hubby said " Happy Birthday " as he arrived home after his midnight shift .

So here's a cake for me ....hehe .... a picture I downloaded .

I'm at my table in my room . The curtains are apart , leaving the day curtains as it is to filter out the sun's rays . Generally and on most days ...I would not be doing this as the sun's rays are too strong ; not only does it makes my working area hot , it hurts my eyes too when looking at the computer screen . So all curtains would be drawn .

Today , the sun's rays are not that bright ....neither hot nor cold and the day is beautiful . Very peaceful . Lots of chirping sounds from the birds adding charm to the morning calmness . How great ALLAH SWT is to show us his creations .

Most mornings there would be plenty of people taking a morning stroll or walk . Somehow , I didn't see anyone today . My neighbor's two rottweilers are in a good mood too .Not barking their heads away should anything attract their attention . They barked at me too when I happened to be outside to put away my rubbish in the can . How I wish these dogs are as good as today . How my skins crawl when they barked and showed their teeth . How ugly they look when they do that . I'm just terrified that they would break loose someday .

Anyway , here's a happy and beautiful day to everyone out there .

Perhaps.......

Its peaceful tonight .

Well...it was not 4 hours ago . Our housing area had a power failure and we were in pitch darkness .

Not so bad a situation as all the neighbors came out as from 8.30pm . I stood outside for a while . The night was just nice ...neither too hot nor too cold .

And it is so right now . That leads me to wonder ...is it that night ? The night I had been waiting for ...plus the other muslims in the world.....Lailatul Qadar ?

A night that is full of blessings ....the Quran descended on this night too . The angels descends too .

If it is so , how blessed I am that it occurs on the night of my birthday .

I'm going to recite the Quran now , pray too and asks ALLAH to forgive me . I'll pray for the good of this world, as well as in the next.

Sighhhh.....

Time : 5.30pm

Hubby : Okay ...Got to go . Bye .

Daughter Yasmin kissed his hands and said " Bye "

Hubby to mummy : Bye ( plus a hug and ...the usual ritual )

Mummy : Can I say something ? ( Said in a whisper )

Hubby looks at wife in the eyes .

Wife : Its my birthday tomorrow .

Observations : No response . Either he didn't hear ...or he pretend not to understand or there were so many things on his mind .

Verdict : Nothing strange ....had always been that way .....SIGHHHHHHHHHH

Conclusion : Dangerous symptom.......could lead to tendency to forget one's own birthday . Signs of old age catching up .

Now...Which Do I pick ?

Hubby had been buying lots of magazines esp on automobiles for the past past months . Whatever time he had he would be surfing the internet too ...perhaps asking himself .....which should it be ? Which of these excites me ? Which do I pick ?

Of course he never posed that question to me ...as he knew the answer would be ..." Take all !! " or " What's so hard ? "

This arrived three weeks ago . This had been on his mind. This had excites him . Prior to that he dragged me along to see , touch , feel this new craze of his . All I could do was to nod in agreement ...hey ....if that moves him ...let it be . He paid the deposit and waited .....for 2 months .

This is it ! Now its the time to discover and explore with his Honda Civic .

Thumbs up from hubby ...pleased that he had made up his mind on .....its shape , its size and its color . "

My only contribution ....the plate number PHW 9117 .....so we have two of this numbers now .And yes ..I will drive the other Honda CRV , with car plate QTB 9117 .

And my red kancil ? For eldest son to use at campus .

Kuala Lumpur

I used to sing this song " Its A Small World " with the children at school . I certainly believe it is so .

As I was walking slowly towards the departure gate and appreciating the plants along the way , I bumped into familiar faces from my old sweet town .

Among them were :

Neighbor Hakim

1 ) My ex next door neighbor . Met him at the airport on our way home .

He was in Kl doing some official work sent by the company he is working for . We updated news ...and glad to now that his eldest daughter is furthering her studies and is hoping to work part time along the way . Anyway she had always been the industrious and very serious girl where her academics are concerned . His other two children are doing great too .

With this neighbor of mine , we don't call each other by our names . He called me ' neighbor " . That was what I called him too when I bumped into him .

2 ) My ex colleague at Bintulu Port Sdn. Bhd . A tremendously good friend . He was on his way home to the island .

Ex colleague Sulaiman

Good friends are hard to come by . How blessed I am to have met him again . Too bad we were not able to sit over coffee and chat longer ...that's what we would do with long and found friends again , right ?

Anyway , with God's grace I do hope to cross paths again . Meetings like this , unplanned and out of the blue certainly gave me lots of thrills .

3 ) Another ex colleague , Mohd Idris .

Met him at Kuala Lumpur City Center with his family . Mohd . Idris on the right and his wife in the center . Dear hubby and son in the back .

I was embarrased for a while as I forgot his name . Though we were from the same company , we seldom met as we were from different departments . To talk to each other too was indeed rare but when we did cross paths , we acknowledged each other's presence with a smile . We know each other existed and is / was working for the same company . Somehow at that particular time there was nothing to talk about .

So , to have met someone again .......wow .....it made me feel good . Feeling at the top of the world, if I must say so . Here is someone whom I seldom talked to and when we met bumped into each other in KL ..... it was sweet of him to greet me .

I met his wife and their children . His wife was friendly and easy to get along with .

To end the few days in KL , I was again taken by surprise when I saw these colorful seats in the plane . Cheery indeed .

And for the first time , I did not do any shopping ...just browsing .....

Trip

We made a short trip to Kuala Lumpur ( KL ) two weeks ago . It was a spur of the moment decision . Not a wise thing to do as it upset everybody's program . My children were grumbling away , myself was having that " what can I do ? " kind of feeling . I was wishing it would have been great if I have close family members around . A great help they would have been . But hubby just had to be in KL .

We took a flight out ...from Penang to Kuala Lumpur . Just a 50 minutes journey and a 40 minutes if the pilots were to push on the throttles .

We were over the main land of the peninsula in a matter of minutes . Looking below , I was wondering as to which part of the state I was passing thru . The meandering river could easily be made out ...don't ask me the name though .

Reaching KLIA , it was rather quiet for an airport ; not that a hustle and bustle of a place to be ...I mean the scenario I used to see a couple of years ago , it was just packed with the local folks and tourists as well .

Years ago , each time I wanted to have a light snack I would head to this cafeteria and it would be teeming with people then . Now its no longer so . I could easily find myself a seat . There are less travelers now flying via KLIA ...perhaps more are using the low cost carriers . Boy , at that terminal the place is packed with people . More seats needed though for people like me to sit while waiting for the counter to open for checking in purposes .

Of course KLIA is more comfortable and more classy .....nothing beats that !! I just love the plants and flower arrangements they put around the airport ...made me feel good looking at those greens .

We took a taxi to the hotel .

My oh my , little did I realized that we would be putting up in a part of Kuala Lumpur where I used to stay for a month 12 years ago .

I remembered crossing this road to get to Ampang Point . Now they had built an over head bridge . Good of them . A hassle to do so at that time . Risky indeed as I had to carry my son . My sister carrying my daughter as we crossed the road which was forever heavy with traffic .

Twelve years ago my work as a soon to be principal at Tadika Montessori Pelabuhan Bintulu saw me being trained at Montessori Teachers Training Center . A month apart from my family would be miserable . The management was sensitive enough to the feelings of a mother that they arranged for me to go with my whole family .

So there I was staying at the above apartment for a month ; the building in the middle ......with my two younger children in tow . I was lucky my elder sister was kind to follow and help babysit my children while I was at work .

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights 3 days ...used to be known as Ming Court Hotel .

I just loved the bed ....

Old colleagues ...Sulaiman ( left ) and Habib ( middle ) with hubby ( right )
and son Amir ( back ) .

Of all the people ......while sitting at the hotel lobby ......my old colleagues at Bintulu Port Sdn. Bhd. walked in .......My God .....it was good to have met them again . And of all the place ...right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur .

Of course , we were talking away as if there was no tomorrow .

No , I did not get the chance to meet and continue our conversation again as all of us had to finish whatever we wanted to do in KL .
